Two months ago on Toad's Castle's fifth birthday I promised a new design and various improvements to the site. The day has finally come to unveil these changes.
The most obvious change is the layout. I completely redesigned it, and I believe it's safe to say we now have one of the nicest looking Mario fan sites on the internet. The left nav bar provides access to all of the essential content pages, while the right bar gives links to forum topics, polls, and the login system. The buttons in the new banner quickly direct new users to the key parts of the site.
Almost every page is now entered into a database which allows me more flexibility in providing access to our content. The games by system and contributors pages are currently the best examples of how this data can be used. Both are generated from the database and will never be out of date.
For more information about the login system, see this page.
There is still work to be done. In the coming months, I hope to implement sorting features on section indexes, an easier submission process (not that email is difficult!), profile editing, wiki-style game page editing, the badge system that was discussed, and games such as Find Toaldo.
If you notice anything broken or have suggestions please let me know.
