Marvin the Martian (live action/CGI movie)

As you all might have known by now, there's a number of Hanna-Barbera classics being remade into live action movies. Naturally, they're most likely going to suck. But, I decided to make a topic based around one movie that isn't (too me) Hanna-Barbera related, and that's the live action/CGI movie, Marvin the Martian!



You all know about Marvin the Martian, right? Even though he only appeared in 5 of the original Looney Tunes' shorts, he's had a lasting impression on us all, what with his calm, soft-spoken demeanor and his highly destructive power. He's one of my all-time favorite characters, next to Taz.

So, anyway, I just found out there's going to be a movie made about good ol' Marvin, made by Alcon Entertainment:

Alcon Entertainment will also be making a Hong Kong Phooey movie, but that's for another topic. Anyway, from what I've heard about the movie, the movie involves Marvin intending to destroy Earth during Christmas, but the protagonist prevents Marvin from doing so by wrapping him inside a gift box. Or so the Wikipedia article said. Seriously, if that's all that happens in the movie, it's going to suck.

Also, Alcon compared the project to Racing Stripes and My Dog Skip. Yeesh...

Still, all we can do at this point is hope for the best. Personally, I hope they keep his incredibly clam, quiet personality in this movie, more so than in the Duck Dodgers series.

Marvin the Martian and Hong Kong Phooey are both unbelievably awesome, but they don't need to be remade. Not only do they feel NOTHING like the original (see: Underdog), but they're a minor franchise that won't turn out well.
So no, I have no hopes for this.
