Mario Cartoons

Mario stared in three cartoons that aired from the late 80s into the 90s. At the moment the shows do not regularly appear on any channels. There is an official DVD set of the Super Show, and various videos and unoffical DVDs of the other shows are availible online. Unfortunately, it does not seem likely that a new Mario cartoon will be created in the foreseeable future.

The Shows:
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show
The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario World
A fourth show, Mario All-Stars, merely repackaged episodes of SMBSS and SMW under a new name.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show

The first Mario TV show was launched in 1989 and only lasted about one year. The show consisted of two parts: the first segment featured Mario and Luigi portrayed by live actors, and the second was animated.

Opening Theme
Lyrics: Hey, paisanos! It's The Super Mario Brothers Super Show! We're the Mario Brothers, and plumbing's our game, we're not like the others who get all the fame. If your sink is in trouble, you can call us on the double, we're faster than the others, you'll be hooked on the Brothers! Uh! You'll be hooked on the Brothers. Gimme gimme, gimme gimme! You're in for a treat, so hang on to your seat. Get ready for adventures and remarkable feats. You'll meet Koopas, the Troopas, the Princess, and the others, hangin' with the plumbers, you'll be hooked on the Brothers! To the brink! Uh! I said hoo-hoo-hoo-hooked on the Brothers!

Closing Theme
Lyrics: Do the Mario! Swing your arms from side to side. Come on, it's time to go. Do the Mario! Take one step, and then again. Let's do the Mario, all together now! You got it! It's the Mario! Do the Mario! Swing your arms from side to side. Come on, it's time to go. Do the Mario! Take one step, and then again. Let's do the Mario, all together now! Come on now. Just like that!

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3

Mario's second show has set in the world of SMB3 and featured 13 episodes (26 individual segments). Interestingly, the show changed the names of the Koopa kids: Larry was changed to Cheatsy Koopa, Morton to Bigmouth, Wendy to Kootie Pie, Roy to Bully, Lemmy to Hip, Iggy to Hop, and Lugwig to Kooky Von Koopa.

Opening theme
Lyrics: It is a legend no one will forget. Everyone thought King Koopa had left the Mushroom Kingdom. And then, his Doom Ship attacked! King Koopa was back, with the greatest danger ever known: his Koopa Kids! Using their new super powers, the Super Mario Brothers rescued Princess Toadstool, and beat back the evil Koopa Family. "I'll get those plumbers!"

Super Mario World

Mario's last cartoon apearence was on the horribly named show, Super Mario World. As the name suggests, the show was based off SMW and took place in Dinosaur land. In the show Mario and Luigi befriend a villege of cavemen that does not exist in the games. The Super Mario World show kept the modified versions of the Koopa Kids' names.
